At A.S. Judo we are lucky to have some very excellent and dedicated instructors who understand how best to teach Judo, and get the most out of you too. All of our instructors compete at the highest levels so you can be sure that they are speaking from experience.

Alan Scott
Alan is both the owner and head coach of A.S Judo Academy. At only 27 years of age he has an incredible competition record in Judo with 17 years of experience and through representing Great Britain on numerous occasions. Alan was Junior British Champion in 1999 and 2000 consecutively, he also competed in two Junior European Championships and in the Junior World Championships. As an adult he became British Judo Champion in 2004. Alan holds the rank of 3rd Dan (Black belt) and is a qualified professional coach under the British Judo Association (BJA).
Alan’s contribution to sport has been recognized by being presented with the Buckinghamshire Sports Personality of the Year Award, following in the footsteps of previous winner, Sir Steve Redgrave.
Alan continues to train and develop himself both as Judoka and coach, leading his academy members to tournament success and creating champions of the future.

Igor Dimitrijoski
Igor coaches all age groups at the Academy. He has been coaching internationally since 2003, and attained his black belt in the same year.
Igor has been practising judo for 25 years, representing his home country (Macedonia) at both junior and senior levels, and as national champion from 1993-1997. He first learned judo from his father at the People’s Club of Prilep, the most prolific club in the Balkans, which over 30 years has produced over 9,000 highly capable judo players, including several hundred black belts.
Igor has a degree in Physical Education and judo coaching qualifications recognized by the British Judo Association as equivalent to UKCC Level 1. As a national of both Macedonia and Bulgaria, he brings a wealth of experience of international judo and coaching styles from Eastern Europe, and from his time training in Japan.
Igor’s values are rooted in the firm belief that you never stop learning in judo, and he frequently says he learns something new by watching the kids he teaches.

Peter Lomax
Peter is 25 years of age and has competed in Judo for over 15 years. He currently represents Great Britain in the under 90kg weight category. He is a 2nd Dan (Black belt) and a fully qualified coach under the British Judo Association. Peter is also a Senior Coach at A.S Judo Academy.

Ron Cleere
Ron is a 2nd Dan (Black belt) and a fully qualified club coach under the British Judo Association. Ron is also a Senior National Referee and a Senior Coach at A.S Judo Academy. Qualified coach and referee for special needs Judo and member of the BJA Inclusion Committee.
Gavin Davies – Senior Instructor

Gavin is a vastly experienced competitor and coach and has over 15 years experience operating within the British Judo Community. He has an excellent competitive record and has representing Great Britain on numerous occasions. Gavin holds the rank of 2nd Dan (Black belt) and is a qualified professional coach under the British Judo Association (BJA).
Alongside working with Alan at The A.S Judo Academy, Gavin is also the owner and head coach of G.D Judo. With G.D Judo, Gavin has established the foundation and vehicle with which to pass on his knowledge to the next generation of athletes.

Tim King
Tim is a fully qualified British Judo Association club coach, and has recently become a senior coach at the A.S Judo Academy. He only started judo at the age of 45 after watching his son complete a beginners course in the sport. Tim achieved his 1st Dan (black belt) in just two and half years and won a bronze medal in the National Veterans Championship.
Tim firmly believes that you never stop learning in judo and he says he frequently learns something new when watching the kids. Tim continues to train and develop himself both as Judoka and coach and believes that regardless of age or ability, all judokas have the opportunity to achieve a higher level of co-ordination and skill and thereby improve fitness, confidence and self discipline. The best way to learn this is through fun, enjoyment and commitment.
Neil Eckersley

Neil has been involved at all levels within British Judo and reached the highest level. Having competed in two Olympic Games, 1984 Los Angeles where I gained an Olympic bronze medal and 1988 Seoul, where he was British team captain.
In 2001 he was awarded an honorary 6th Dan Red and White belt.
Neil has also been employed as the British Judo Association Junior Men’s National Coach/team manager for the potential squad. During this time there was significant success within the team gaining medals in Junior A class tournaments at both the European and World Championships. Many of the players he has taught have gone on to gain senior success.
Vasile Panfil

Moldovian Vasile Panfil – 5 times British open Bronze winner and 2nd Dan Black Belt. He’s a powerhouse of a Judo player and has been practising judo for over 25 years. representing his home country (Moldova) at both junior and senior levels.
Vasile has a judo coaching qualification recognized by the British Judo Association as equivalent to UKCC Level 1.
