AS Panda Club

Our Panda Cubs Program is specifically developed for kid’s ages 4-7 years old. This professionally designed curriculum teaches the children important life skills in a fun, exciting, and enriching environment. Our warm and nurturing staff encourages and motivates each student to do his or her very best. Emphasis is placed on positive reinforcement and the benefits of good behavior. Each highly structured class incorporates age appropriate physical activity and coordination exercises along with basic judo skills aimed to improve your child’s gross motor skills and positive mental attitude. These skills will help your child become a better student in school, a better listener at home, a better all-around athlete, and feel more ambitious towards his/her goals.

In essence, the Panda Cubs curriculum utilizes the structure of judo training to improve and develop;

Panda Cubs: Badge Test Requirements

A.S. Panda Judo

To be awarded each new Grade, Panda Cubs must fulfill the following experience,academic and technical requirements. All
Panda Cubs must also show positive attitude and good behavior in class.

Grade 1:

* Minimum 10 classes with consistent attendance.

1. Where did Judo come from? – (JAPAN)

2. What does Matta& Hajime both mean in English? – (STOP & BEGIN)

3. Demonstrate the correct bowing action for both knelling & standing.

4. Demonstrate a tumble roll.

(Check with Sensei if unsure.)

Grade 2:

1. All of the above.

2. What is the Japanese word for teacher or Instructor – (SENSEI)

3. What does Rei&ZaRei mean in English – (STANDING BOW & KNELLING BOW)

4. Ukemi: Breakfall(Must demonstrate 1 of the following)
Backward Ukemi
Side Ukemi
Forward Rolling Ukemi

(Check with Sensei if unsure.)

Grade 3:

1. Examiners choice of 1 from each set of above

2. What is the Japanese word for a Judo club or a place to learn Judo – (DOJO)

3. (Nagewaza: Throwing Technique)
Demonstrate: OsotoGari

4. (Newaza: Ground Technique)
Demonstrate: Yokoshiho Gatame.

Grade 4:

1, Examiners choice of 1 from each set of above

2, What is the proper way to entre and exit the Dojo (STANDING BOW)

3, Demonstrate how to tie your belt correctly

4, Demonstrate OsotoGari into YokoshihoGatame

Grade 5:

1, Examiners choice of 1 from each above

2, Who was the founder of Judo (JIGORO KANO)

3, Whats the Japanese word for Belt (OBI)

4, Demonstrate KesaGatame

Crab walk

4, Demonstration of light Randori for 30 sec (on the move)
